Whether you’ve had braces before or this is your first time, it can be a bit of an adjustment getting used to life with clear aligners. That’s why it’s important to do what you can to plan ahead! If you’re not sure where to start, then read on for a few easy ways to prepare for Invisalign treatment!

1. Purchase the Necessary Supplies

At your first Invisalign appointment, you’ll get a welcome kit, which includes your trays, a case, and cleaning crystals. However, many patients find it helpful to have other tools, like a travel-sized toothbrush and over-the-counter pain medication. It’s a good idea to gather items like these ahead of time so you’re well-prepared by the time your teeth-straightening journey officially begins.

2. Create an On-the-Go Dental Care Kit

Do you eat your breakfast in the car on the way to work? Are lunches with clients frequent on your calendar? Do you enjoy grabbing dinner with your friends on the weekends? If so, then you’ll need to get in the habit of brushing your teeth and cleaning your aligners on-the-go. The easiest way to do this is by creating a dental care kit filled with travel-sized essentials, like floss and mouthwash. That way, it’s never a hassle to complete your oral hygiene routine.

3. Focus on Satiating, Healthy Meals

In order to stay on-track with your Invisalign treatment, you need to wear your aligners for 20-22 hours a day. That doesn’t leave much time for snacking, which is why it’s so important to create satiating meals that you genuinely enjoy for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It’s also crucial to keep added sugar to a minimum to ensure your teeth and gums stay healthy throughout your teeth-straightening journey.

4. Determine Your Budget

There will be a lot going on at your first appointment – from mastering how to take your aligners on and off to learning how to keep them clean and clear. That’s why it’s best not to leave the financial component of your care until the last minute. If you have any questions or need any help, don’t hesitate to ask your dental team for help!
