Do you have missing teeth? Perhaps an adult tooth never came in? Dental bridges are non-removable, fixed appliances we offer as part of our cosmetic dentistry that are an excellent choice to replace missing teeth. Several types of bridges are available, so discuss your options with your dentist at Salt Run Family Dentistry. A traditional bridge is the most common and is typically made of porcelain fused over metal. These bridges are popular – and for good reason – they look and perform like natural teeth.
Consider a fixed bridge for:
- Filling in for missing teeth
- Maintaining the shape of the face
- Preventing teeth from drifting out of position
- Bringing back the ability to chew and speak properly
- Restoring a beautiful, natural smile
- Upgrading from a removable partial
Installing a dental bridge involves two crowns that go over anchoring teeth on either side of the missing tooth. The missing tooth then has a fake tooth bridged between the crowned anchors to fill the gap. Bridges are very durable and last for years, but they may require replacement or have to be re-cemented because of normal wear and use down the road.
Filling in the Gaps for Brighter Smile
At Salt Run Family Dentistry, we’re here to fill in the gaps for a brighter smile. If you’re in need of a dental bridge to replace a missing tooth, our dental bridges are usually fitted in just a couple of visits.
On your first visit, we’ll create precise molds (or impressions) of your teeth to have the permanent bridge made. In preparation for the permanent bridge, a temporary one may be put in place for a couple of weeks. During your second visit, your permanent bridge is examined, adjusted, and permanently cemented into place. In some instances, it may be necessary to cement your bridge temporarily so surrounding tissue and teeth can adapt to the bridge. In this case, permanent cementing will happen at a later time.
